Friday Wind Down

I must say the week started with a bang were we hired a new employee. Yay Jocqulynn! She did an amazing job on her 4 days of training. She came in with experience and it really showed.

Our specialty is detail and professionalism! She picked it up very fast and actually studied all the material and came ready for her test. We screen all our team members thoroughly. They must pass a background check. We only hire top quality  employees for our professional house cleaning company.

Michele received huge praises from our clients this week and was awarded a gift card when she came in from the field. She was quite surprised. We are very proud!

Maahdi started his second year of college this week so he is now down to part time. We are proud of Maahdi for furthering his education.

Also, we can't leave without talking about our partnership with Cleaning For A Reason. We are happy to help woman battling cancer with free house cleaning in the metro Atlanta area. We are helping 3 wonderful women right now. So if you know of any woman battling cancer please go to the site above and sign them up.

We also received a brand new vacuum from Hoover. They are a sponsor of Cleaning For A Reason. Thank you Hoover!

Everyone have a wonderful weekend and we will see you here on Monday!!

I thought I would post a great article from My HouseCleaningBiz.com

Identifying Employee Performance Problems

There's no way around it. Throughout your life as a business owner, you'll have "problem children" as I like to call them. I'm actually talking about employees with performance problems.
In order to improve the situation, you need to figure out why there is a problem in the first place. There are several reasons you may have employee performance problems. Here are four of the most common:

1.  Capacity problem. This means the employee does not have the physical or mental capacity to do the job. If this is the case, you should take a look at your hiring procedures to find out why the employee was hired in the first place.

2.  Environmental problem. This could mean that the employee doesn't have the right tools to do the job, or the system doesn't allow them to do the job correctly. For example, if it's taking the employee twice as long to vacuum as it should, find out the reason. It could be that she's using a client vacuum that has worn brushes that don't pick up, or doesn't have enough suction. This could be causing the employee to work twice as hard to do a good job vacuuming.

3.  Training problems. This is a very common problem, especially if you've placed the responsibility for training in the wrong person's hands. Be sure you have an effective training program and that your trainers follow your systems consistently. Don't let employees get away with, "but no one told me I had to do that." Make sure they sign off on all training received, so you have documentation that they did indeed receive instructions on what to do.

4.  Motivational problem. The employee may know how to do the job,she just chooses not to do it because she's no longer motivated. Or, she may have the feeling that if "they" don't care, neither do I. "They" refers to supervisors or management. Motivation stems from management and trickles down to supervisors and cleaners. If your cleaners aren't motivated, find out why and take steps to correct the situation.
In order to fix the problem, you must get to the root of the problem. Discuss what is going on with the employee and be empathetic so she opens up to you. Once you know the cause, take immediate steps to correct the problem. Letting things continue on without taking action will never solve the problem. But if you proactively strive to deal with problems as soon as you identify them, the happier you and your employees will be.

Cleaning For a Reason

Good morning and TGIF!!!!

We have had a great week here at House/ Office Cleaning On Wheels. It started out rough with all the cancellations due to the credit downgrade. But things looked up on Tuesday when we received 2 new clients!

I want to share a little about Cleaning For a Reason. This is a foundation we partner with to help women with cancer get free house cleaning. We give them the same detailed cleaning we would for a paying customer. I truely love doing these cleanings because I saw first hand how hard this is from start to end on amother, wife, sister, daughter and great friend. Sally was not only a client she was a wonderful bubbly friend. Cancer struck her on June of 2003 and took her life on June of 2005.

If you know of any woman battling cancer please sign her up for this. There are over a thousand cleaning companies partnered with the foundation. Also, if you know of a cleaning company send them too. They can learn how they can become involved.

Everyone have a great weekend!!

I wish I was better at this

Well I wish I was better at blogging. I am no writer, but I sure wish I was.

We now have 2 fully trained employees added to our list of employees. I need to learn to let go so they can develop into the the great workers I know they can become.

Our house cleaning service prides itself in detail cleaning and I guess I just sometimes (always lol) feel I should be hands on. I know I know I cant be everywhere at once. I just need to have confidence in my employees because I know they really like working for our great company House / Office Cleaning On Wheels.
